The firm’s principal focus is the provision of bespoke tax services and related advice to wealthy private clients, including the ‘rich and famous’, sportsmen and entertainers, their private companies and family trusts.
Working in the Birmingham office you will report to the Head of Financial Investigations Group and the Directors.
Working as part of a specialist team within this fantastic environment you will be required to manage your own portfolio of clients under a tax investigation either in the district or with Special Civil Investigations including liaison with other service lines as necessary.

You will be expected to ensure that clients receive a timely and commercial service in accordance with the firm's commitment to provide exceptional client service.

Detailed knowledge of Taxes Management Act and a good working knowledge of the taxes acts, particularly in respect of corporation tax, income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax both past and present.
An understanding of the indirect tax legislation and the potential interface with investigations.
Preparation of a Disclosure Report and review of supporting detailed analyses of historical financial data including business accounts, tax returns and other financial information such as personal bank and building society accounts.
Review and revise all associated corporate and personal tax computations for a given period under review as a result of an investigation and negotiate a Settlement with HM Revenue & Customs.
Provide advice and guidance to agents and fellow colleagues of the practical application of Taxes Management Act and identify alternative strategies in given cases.
Correspond with clients, HM Revenue & Customs (at all levels) and financial institutions as necessary.

A full understanding of the requirements under the Anti Money Laundering Legislation.

Acting as the first point of contact for client allocation.

Good contacts within HM Revenue & Customs and agents.




Skills:
A good working knowledge of Word and Excel and a familiarity with tax software and other general applications.
A “hunter gatherer” approach with an ability to work on own initiative and be pro-active in converting opportunities into actual fees.
Good communication skills both written and oral.

A skilled negotiator with both government bodies and clients and deal with potential and actual conflict.
